ban dodgers issue

Postby Naruto-fr » Sun Jul 28, 2013 10:42 pm

Hi all,

I have a suggestion regarding the ban dodgers. I think it should be possible to detect players who are changing systematically their IP. Normally a player who has changed his IP won't connect with the same IP then. Maybe you should stats reset or ban all accounts which has got 2 or more IPs.

Is that possible? Usually there is no reason for someone to change his IP.

Cu

If you go to a friends house to play, bam- new IP. If your power goes out and your router boots up again when power returns- bam, new IP.

No reason? I can see a lot of legitimate reasons.

I did not know that when your router rebooted it generated a new Ip xD automatically. I thought you need to change it by yourself online and then reboot.

This rule only applies to dynamic ip and in some cases static ip.

At least in the United States, almost every residential connection has a dynamic IP -- even cable. Thus, every time the modem restarts (different from the router), the home is assigned a new IP.

Thank you for the suggestion, but at this time, it probably isn't the best option.

(Another example of why this wouldn't work out well: I play wc3 in college, I go home for the weekend, I then get banned and stats erased just for going home for the weekend.)
