Stat Clearing

Postby BurritoCarcass » Sat Jul 13, 2013 7:18 pm

I suggest that after about 2 month of inactivity players stats be erased, no matter what they are ranked. I suggest this for two reasons: 1) after three months of inactivity, other people can claim their names and use them in place of the actual person. This is currently happening with proxy.exe and others. 2) It is also unfair that they are still so highly ranked when they dont even play anymore.I think the game should cater to the current players, not the past players.

While I agree to a certain extent I feel it would be a complete shame to wipe the entire list of players who worked so hard to get where they are. Even if they are inactive, they still won the right to their stats. For example erasing your friend proxy.exe's stats would just be a sad day for ENT dota. I think people should be able to compare themselves to people like proxy.exe to realize how much their game could be improved. (I don't know him well but I sure do remember him as one hell of a player from the few games I played with burrito and proxy.exe back in the day when dfl was alive)

As for people claiming to be somone they are not I feel this has been happening for a very long time I often hear things like "Yea my alias is SOJU of Flowersnow"

Overall I do not beleive the stats should be wiped but rather maybe separated into two lists: ALL TIME TOP PLAYERS/ACTIVE TOP PLAYERS

as for inactive accounts that do not reach the top players list I would feel no remorse or see no problem in those stats being wiped. I feel that perhaps making an ACTIVE TOP PLAYERS LIST could also perhaps spur the dota community because lower level players would find more interest in the game because they would be able to rank on the active top players list and perhaps push them to try to make the all time top players list.

I dont think you fully understand, if people make these names, they can alter the stats. Fore example, the proxy.exe, whoever is playing him is wrecking his stats.

In this case I would have to fully take your side I see no reason that a pub should ruin the stats and name of a great player because the name again became available through battle.net.

I would still support somehow archiving the stats though because as I said above it is a shame to remove the stats of great players who have made their mark on the ENT community.

and YES WTF KIND OF FUCKING SHAME IS THAT LETTING SOME RANDOM RUIN A GODLY ACCT. Proxy would prob flip a nut if he saw sum1 under his acct got 0-5 pl and 1-8 bristle christ

and also another weird thing to look into is that the dota games on the bottom of the list on proxy.exe's stat page do not have proxy.exe in any of the games!?!?...

Someone is jerking around with IPs on that one. Ive noticed a lot of games under the names of people that dont even have them in it. Something weird is going on.

@uakf.b - hey man do you want me to wipe these guys stats? I talked with burrito. If there is clear and convincing evidence then I'm all for it, this is a legit issue.

How would stats be archived though. Where would they be displayed, and if not on the top players page, then what would be the point?

A screen shot of it or something? Otherwise I cannot think of a solution, but we do need to find a way to prevent this issue from happening.

@uakf.b Should we just move this to processed and forget about it? I cannot think of an adequate way to archive players stats, and unless you have any ideas, I don't think we will get one :(

Well question also whether we even want to archive them. If no one cares then why display them or worry about removing them?

Having a record of them in case the stats shouldn't have been cleared isn't a problem, since they'll be stored in admin log for admins to view.

Then since no one has mentioned anything about conserving them, is it safe to say that we can procede?
