and most people probably don't read the automessages from bots

Are you saying there has been a similar system with automessages before? - with tips to the game? I have only seen [ANNOUNCEMENT] this far.

Do you read those announcements? I bet most people don't.

So, if they don't read announcements, why would they read these tips?

Every minute would actually be a nuisance. Even the announcements right now... which are every few minutes I think are slightly annoying =P.

If it does get implemented, the messages need to be broad and encompassing. But people should be able to turn that sh*t off because a good portion of ENT players already know how to play DotA. :-)

Yeah, it would be a good idea to add -tipsoff or so

announcements are mostly useless or something you already know, thus people learned to ignore them.

If there's a command and the players know how it works, they might pay attention to the bot's messages again.
However, it should be different to the announcements format.

Concerning your quotes, you said they shouldn't be too long but your quotes are 2-3 sentences long? :|

So do the tips so far look good? Also can you format them as plaintext? (you have the special quotation marks, but those won't show well in-game)

Most likely it'll be a !tips command that you can toggle on/off.

The tips can easily be made suitable if wanted. These messages are some of the ones from the last semi-competitive server I played on.
If this is wanted, I can modify them. I just don't wish to spend time on something that is already denied.

Edit:
I still think the best idea is to keep the messages going in the gamelobby of dotagames automatically. Set the intervals for 2mins to start off with. If it added as a manual command, I don't think it will be used by the ones who needs them the most!

- Carrying tp-scrolls is very useful. It lets you move around the map freely; you can avoid ganks, defend a tower, go back to fountain to heal etc
- Stating that “this hero sucks”, means that you haven’t fully understood the entire hero’s potential. Every hero has its strengths and weaknesses. If there are specific heroes you struggle with, a good place to start would be playdota.com->guides

The messages won't take up much space

I agree actually now, probably no one would use the manual command. And auto message without command would be annoying, even if you can disable it. So not implementing this, sorry about that since you already made the tips.
