Ban Appeal: NubZ @USeast, not sure why I was banned

I understand why he was banned, but you're not hearing me. I'm not trying to be a hero, I just don't think the ban is justified given what happened leading up to his behavior. My main point here is that he started raging against you after the votekick & desynch comments from red, which were uncalled for - why he targeted you instead of red even though red took those actions, well I think the chat below sums it up, he was confused about being votekicked/blamed for your RS, so you were the easy target, since you were the one who in fact RSed. He probably felt he was being unjustly blamed for your action. The bottom line is, his behavior was initiated entirely by red's inability to handle the situation. Then 10 minutes later red tries to explain something to him, well that's great but that's really putting the cart before the horse. Damage was already done by that point. Maybe if you put yourself in his shoes you'd have more compassion for him, especially given that he doesn't speak English well? That goes back to my other point, which is that it still feels like everything he did was retaliatory, not premeditated. Does that make it acceptable? No. But it does mean he's not a serial offender and in his mind was defending his integrity.

Edit: I also want to point out that you didn't say anything when red chose the troll modes in game 2. It makes it very hard to trust you that you don't know red. You just went along with it. I'm even more puzzled that you didn't submit a request to ban red, I had to do this. This didn't cross your mind whatsoever, especially since in red's case it was clearly premeditated, he decided to choose the modes in advance, had them copied & immediately pasted at start? At best you have tunnel vision in blaming Volleyball only, at worst you are really red's friend and lied about that. Frankly, it's completely irrelevant, I'm just pointing it out so you can see how perspective can be different depending on where you're looking from

you are saying you understand why he was banned but it doesnt seem like it. he was banned for control share abuse and failure to play as a team
1) control share abuse happened when i shared control with him in the beginning of a round. He decided to troll my builder and blink it around not allowing me to create a building. i had to remove control before being able to make a building. how do you plan to defend this ban?
2) yes failure to play as a team, refusal to cooperate can be perceived as retaliatory. sure maybe hes new so this one can be less heavy

not doing something != doing something that blatantly disrupts the game

this was not directed at teal, this was at me. i called rs but mistimed it and shushu lost a building. teal entirely refused to RS saying "we lost". i believe he should serve the duration of his ban. being banned only makes you a better player in the community moving forward. screaming "FK U" all game is not someone id like to play with.

If the abuse happened at the beginning as well, then yes, that is clearly him messing with you for no reason and that's not cool. But if it in fact only happened 9:50 forward, I still agree that there should be a punishment, I'm just surprised that it's 5 days. I would sooner give 5 days for my trolling and 5 days to red's actions, but 1-2 days to him. The key difference is that red and I both did what we did knowingly, without care to consequences, whereas I *thought* he did it all in reaction.

the punishment isnt 5d for share abuse
afaik the split is:
3d share abuse 2d refusal to cooperate
3d flame 2d save game

knowingly doing something vs unknowing doing something does not change punishment on said behavior. you are punished solely for the action which is how it works in reality as well. language barrier isnt a card that can get thrown around - see : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=126893 If you cant speak English, well, that's a pity but being on the internet, we cant bring the argument for everyone

It's more like:

>gets riled up because of random guy's behavior (red)
>hits another random guy on head with baseball bat because angry (you, collateral damage lol)
>inadvertently kills the other random guy and is charged with first degree murder (5 day sentence, very serious)

My suggestion:
>charged with manslaughter, maybe second degree murder at most if the prosecutor is very convincing, because it was not intentional or pre-meditated (this is what I mean by not being knowingly done, so reduced sentence, less serious)
>random guy 1 (red) charged with being an accessory to murder (increased sentence so he understands the extent to which he is responsible for the events that transpired on that dark & stormy night that led to the death of an random guy #2 - you -and ruined the life of Volleyball forever)

So knowingly is not just knowing what is right and wrong, it's whether or not in the moment you fully know/are cognizant of what you're doing, or are you doing it inflamed/in response to a stimulus? Volleyball has been condemned to murder in the first degree when the evidence shows that he did not plan on murdering you. He deserves his day in court. Shouldn't the county appoint him a public defender if he cannot afford one? Well that's me!

@UrMumSucksMeOff Do you understand what you did was wrong? If put in the same place, would you flame/save game again? Let me remind you ENT is fine with such chatter if it's minimal and overall moderated but yours was excessive, aimed at several players and offense insults were thrown on more than one occasion and was done so over the majority of both games.

Hi, yes sir, I understand my behavior was inappropriate. I will definitely not save now that I understand it may cause a disconnect. I did not know this until someone explained it to me in an earlier post here. And I will keep trolling to a minimal, I agree that was completely excessive. I usually play with friends so I'm used to trolling them in this manner, but strangers do not react the same way so it was irresponsible of me to do that.

I'm sorry, but whether you're with friends, random people, or even by yourself, talking like this isn't acceptable and I think you should feel embarrassed that almost 400 people have looked at this appeal and have seen what you've said. I don't even need to post the chat from the other game as it's the same thing and everyone gets the idea. There will be no removal or reduction of your flaming ban.

Continuing, you were also banned for saving in-game and I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say that you did not know the rule. I'm going to ask that you look through all the other rules on our wiki and become familiar with them. Ignorance will no longer be an acceptable excuse in any future appeals. For already stating the rules you broke, I hope you understand them now and I will reduce your ban by 1 day.
