Why did blizzard bother to patch this dead game?

It was mainly just improving compatibility with Mac and Windows 10, as far as I know.

Actually it fixed numerous bugs in dota. For example, before the patch if you bought linens sphere then sold it later for another item (rarely happens except for 3 or 4 v 5 late game) the spell block would remain after linkens was sold. Additionally, before the patch the skill doom (without scepter) did not allow slark to shadow dance if he could get to fog, now it does.

It also got rid of most map hacking, which is a huge plus

tbh I know a few people who complained.

The offsets probably just got changed considering its like VC2013 now. It'll pick back up quickly.

Which is just so naive to believe, lmao. As Cambrioleur mentioned, just like bots, you gotta adjust the tools for the new version. After all, these hacks are client-sided, little blizz can do.

Regarding the "huge" dota fixes: One can't play DotA and enjoy the fixes if wc3 disces or the client doesn't even start.
