[Possible Bug] Grant's Avatar takes some negative buffs

Postby cookies4u » Sat Jan 02, 2016 3:01 pm

I used Grant's ultimate Avatar earlier while sieging a base that had a lot of ultimate towers that cast negative buffs. While I believe most of the negative buffs no longer affected me while in Avatar mode, there was an ice/slow effect coming from a tower/builder that continued to affect my titan.

I can post more specifics if needed, but at this point I'm not sure if this is a bug or if this is by design.

Replay link would be nice.

Definitely not intended.

If I'm not mistaken, wc3 allows most slow passives to go through magic immunity, including deep freeze, mag passive slow and gnoll slow towers. At least that's how it is in wc3dota anyway.

Don't quote me on anything though, not 100% sure.

I think if it is an orb effect it will pierce magic immunity. Thats how it is in DotA 2 (which is basically wc3)

Yes, orb effects, unless it's something like Huntress poison arrow, which doesn't go through magic immunity, because it is a casted orb effect.

Here is the link to the replay (the events in question begin at around the 42 minute mark):

Here is a gob hunter with a frost tower in it, acting like an Orb:

And then here is me sieging the base in Avatar form (note the negative buffs on my titan):

There was a frost negative buff coming from the gob hunter, and a poison negative buff coming from somewhere else.

So if the above discussion is correct, the frost tower in the gob hunter acted like an orb, which goes through magic immunity.

Is that to say that had the tower actually been built, the negative frost effect would not have gone through magic immunity? Or does a built frost tower also have an orb effect?

Buff placing is different from Orb effects (happens with ranged spells/attacks) so yes this is something to look into.
