Make Bans less severe for people who are New to games.

Postby LionsBlood » Sat Apr 11, 2015 1:52 am

Iv been looking through the archive of bans, and every 10-15 minutes it seems like someone new is getting banned by a moderator. The bans seem to last around 3 days generally, currently I'm banned for 3 days but thats beside the point the point of the matter is.. that you guys at ENT could very well ruin the game of Warcraft for everyone! These consistent bans never existed back 2-3 years ago. You guys just like a Monopoly have taken over all of Warcraft Hosting services along with MakeMeHost. And i doubt there is any going back, so if YOU, want this great warcraft community to survive, i recommend making bans less severe perhaps 24 hour bans? And for Map Hackers say 3-5 days? Btw I'm really curious because a "Mod" Told me today that you guys allow maphacks to all of your moderators to watch what goes on in the games. And if that's really the case doesnt that give a really unfair advantage in competitive gameplay? Anyways I'm not trying to start anything with you guys im just pointing out that warcrafts community is already dwindling and if we all want it to continue to survive then we must work together on such issues. One man cannot control the whole game or else it will certainly fall apart. And i have grown up playing this game so to me this has become a part of life.

~Sincerely a concerned Warcrafter and Professional Map Designer.

p.s. Let's work together to make this community grow and come back once more! Future generations need to know what real gaming is all about!
(Plus if we can get these sites and the community back perhaps one day Blizzard would consider making a Warcraft 4 or another RTS like it)

Just no... this sentence just kills by itself (won't even comment it, the moment you're saying maphackers are fine with a 3-5 days ban)

Btw I'm really curious because a "Mod" Told me today that you guys allow maphacks to all of your moderators to watch what goes on in the games.
Elabore that one: I believe you might be speaking about fog click detector (FCD), which is somehow allowed, for mods or players, except for NWU & DotA (These 2 are the only ones i'm aware it's not allowed, correct me if im wrong guys ^^)

All in all, i believe the ban durations are quite fair: I believe bans being 24 hours as you suggest, would give the logic/idea that "Ah it's ok i can break the X rule, since it's like 24 hours ban" and therefore you will have more game ruiners (May this be a game or real life, the lower the punishment, the higher % someone will do it). Also if people truly learn the lesson, they may appeal and usually the ban reductions/unban is quite fair and acceptable (will leave maphack cases and ban dodging from this one, since these 2 are serious offenses.)

Okay, that is true but based off of what people are getting banned for its rather ridiculous that is just my opinion and everyone is entitled to an opinion. My suggestion is simple, try to make Warcraft III Grow in population not decrease and if that means banning less people and putting up with a little bit of drama and crap then so be it. In the end i think we will all win.

If people didn't break rules and make the game less fun/use it to their advantage, maybe we wouldn't need to push such enforcement. Ever think the reason could be that?

You probably mean hackers and violators grow in population and less people will be playing cause hackers and abusers flying everywhere and of course less drama cause there will be no one left except those who abuses and it's a definite win for them

Radiant Don't put words in my mouth, that is not at all what i meant. What i meant was, if you consider the fact that certain people are new to game types and need to be taught rather than screamed at/cursed/banned etc the community would grow and prosper. Hackers will always exist, banning them would be a good idea to teach them a lesson but average people like me don't deserve such things. So again my suggestion is simple ban less people, and kick/mute more if need be to make up for it.

If you break a rule and get reported, you get banned. Your ban duration should reflect your intentions and impact to the game.

Anyone is free to appeal and counter argue their ban case.

If you are new and unaware of our rules, you can learn our rules while you appeal. If what you got banned for is light and your first offense, most mods will be lenient and unban you with a warning.

ENT doesnt have any monopoly. Please look up the definition.

Any other player or hosting bot are capable and allowed to host on wc3.

Should be happy that our community even exists. ENT is the community.

No moderator will be using maphack in a game. You can PM me which idiot mod told you that.
