Not banning for D/C

Postby ShinraCorp » Tue Mar 24, 2015 11:38 pm

So, this is fairly self-explanatory..

When a played D/C's (Lags out..), this player should not be banned.

The end.

They usually instantly unban you if you make a decent ban appeal and you have a good stay rate and clean ban history.

If you have bad stay rate or ban history, then normally the moderator will deny the appeal and suggest you use gproxy.

Instead of leaving people will just pull their plug.

The end

@ShinraCorp

I disagree.

Whether you leave or disconnect or lag out or pull the plug or rage quit...the impact to the game is same - one less player unbalancing the teams.

If someone voluntarily leaves, intention is obvious.

Whether a disconnection or lag out was intentional (pp) is arguable. If you dont get dc often, we will probably give you the benefit of the doubt after a brief review and unban you once you appeal. However, if you dc often, we will treat it as game ruining.

Thank you, Burn.

I do understand the ban appeal process; I merely suggest this as a means of mitigating any unwarranted punishment.

The process of appealing my 60 minute ban merely inconveniences myself and the moderators of this site.

I do believe a better system could be in place so I want this matter to be illuminated in such a way that may potentially help others avoid this hindrance. One hour of my time plays a significant role in my schedule. I'm sure we can all relate to that.

Anyways, thanks for the input. I'll likely start using gproxy again after this incidence. Much appreciated for bringing it up.

Yes, use gproxy. For most temporary disconnection or weak connection, you should be able to recover into the game.

If you find the appealing process slow, you can always come to chat and ask a mod to take a look at your situation.

Cannot think of any other way to handle disconnections since as supersexyy stated, people can just pp and leave any game they want.

If you dont dc often, your autoban will be short or you can appeal and get your ban lifted. Seems pretty fair deal for dropping out of a game and affecting the players left playing.
