As for announcing modes, it's possible for red to says "It's Team Mode" to blue and teal. Then, red tabs for a second and purple and yellow joins. This result in purple and yellow become unaware of the chosen modes. Following the scenario, purple (let's assume a new player/downloader) and he becomes blue's partner (let's assume a die hard YouTDer). This can potentially ruins a game for both blue and purple.

Then red gets banned for failing to inform all players; where's the issue?

The issue is red might have done this unintentionally. For example, Red only tabbed for 5 secs and the game started. When he tabbed back, there were 2 extra people and he did not know to the best of his knowledge. Continue with the scenario, blue will then report red for ruining game. Regardless if red will get ban or not, the admins will still have to watch the case or spend sometime typing out what they want to say. If red gets ban, well, then he will appeal since he would consider the ban to be unfair. Then more admin's time will be wasted.

This scenario can also be reversed. For example, red might have said the modes but blue and teal are afk/tabbed so of course they would be oblivious to the mode red has suggested. Regardless, game is still ruined.

Sure you might say red should not have tabbed in the beginning but please do keep in mind that while waiting for a game with no one wants to talk or they all tabbed can be quite boring and dreading.

In addition, what if red in this case is a new player to the game? Then of course he wouldn't know what mode to pick and he would certainly pick randomly. Do note that when game starts, red is instantly faced with the choices of picking modes and it's obvious that he can't ask for other players to tell him what mode he should pick. If he picks the correct one, great. If not, game is ruined.

By having a default mode, like a bot saying "The default mode should be Nevereding, Upgrade, solo, no extra mode, etc, etc, etc". At least new players who are red will have an idea in mind on what to pick.

Besides, players can just play the modes they want with ENT hosting. Since we're talking about the official bot, I think it's best to set a mode that would make all, if not, the majority of players happy.

If blue and teal dont read it, then it is their problem. As long as red said it and it is proven by the lobby chat, he is fine.

Your "new player" case can be applied to all rules - so it's invalid here.

We can, however, announce recommended modes.

Edit: Red has to announce it by himself without players asking!

Since there is no automatic mode and red chooses the mode. It is up to red to announce or ask the other players for input on mode. If red doesn't initiate then it is up to the other players to initiate the mode question/conversation. Red should not be banned because no one cared to question. It is an open community situation. If red refuses to acknowledge the other players' opinions then a ban would be warranted. Red could merely join the next lobby if all the other players disagree with him.

To completely clear this up. Start a poll and add an announcement to the YouTD bots encouraging players to vote. Need to incorporate the actual community of YouTD players to have valid results.

What people simply dont seem to understand/dont care/ignore is that red has the duty as team leader/captain to announce the mode he wants to enable.

What's so hard to understand about that?

I think art)y's solution is quite good.
If you ask red about the mode and he dont answers or lies, then he will get banned (if you are new or you want to tab and may not recogniz the gamestart, then you should simply not take the red position in lobby ...)
If you dont ask then it seems like you dont care and red can be free to choose any mode he wants.

Like this, all players should be able to play only the modes they want, and nobody will get banned besides he did actually lie or was afk/tabed. And in both of this possible situations, a ban is legit imo.

Not "feasible"? Ha. The rule has been active for months now and enforced in such a way.
Red has the privilege to change the mode, so he also has the responsibility. We wont shift that on other players, so the rule will stay the same for now.

The only thing left is which mode ENT should recommend via announcements.

Arty, is what you're trying to say is that there is a default mode and red is required announce otherwise, or that red has the duty to announce the mode prior to the game starting regardless of the mode chosen and regardless of whether he is asked or not.
They are two different things, one of which is a rule for certain games and one which is not.

They are not for certain games as it is a general rule.

Your two sentences are similar, (1) red has to announce the mode if he chooses a non-default mode and (2) red has the duty to announce the mode prior to game start if he chooses a non-default mode regardless of whether he is asked or not.

Since there's no default mode for YouTD, red has to announce any mode he chooses - as covered by the general rules. If there're no suggestions for a recommended mode, I will archive this suggestion. If you've difficulties understanding a certain rule, please post in the general discussion section or private message a moderator.
