[LTD] Autoban for leavers

Postby CrushOrange » Wed Jan 01, 2014 9:44 am

I perfectly understand your policy on using autoban for people who leave games. But i also feel that each leave should be accounted for. What i mean is that someone leaving pre level 1 because he doesnt like mode should be handled by the autoban. But a player who leaves at a specific round in order to ruin a teams chances(for example being a part of a cross or leaving on a round where you want to maximize the split of sent creeps, 3,7,14,17 etc..) I just feel like leaving for the purpose of game ruining should be held at a more serious level than just a noob who leaks round 1 and leaves.

It's still game ruining though. People wait for a given amount of players to start a game, and then someone leaves.

Autoban takes into account history though, so if someone leaves a lot of games mid-game just to ruin, his stay rate will be lower and he'll get banned for longer. Versus someone who always plays DotA and has a perfect stay rate there, then joins a game of LTD to try, loses and leaves right away, don't get banned very long if at all (depending on their stay rate.)

Thoughts? I kind of makes it hard to tell "why" someone left with an autoban system, the "auto" makes it hard.

What I am trying to say is that I dont feel like auto-ban is enough. There is a big difference between a noob leaving pre-1 or a person who knows what he is doing leaving before 17 to hurt others. More malicious.

You could post a Ban Request for the person and explain why it was intentional ruining versus just plain leaving then. But the autoban system can't really do that.

How is leaving on a hard level any different from leaving on an easy level?
If you cross and that person leaves then too bad, that's part of the risk of building cross

This sums it up. However, well mannered players would draw the game. If they are elo hungry wolves, good luck to you.

A crosser who is the value leaving on a level out of anger or to piss people off is completely different than a noob leaving at level 1. Most decent players can win 3v4 no problem. Maliciousness needs to be taken into account.

Cross Building started out as a way to not have to anti-stuck you or your ally in the same lane if they leak certain waves because some games Anti-stuck was impossible. It evolved into what you can watch any 1k elo player do now, one player values the other incomes. It is not built into the map, it is a strategy one player decides to do with his ally in the same lane. There are a lot of strengths to CBing, this is a weakness.

As far as the "Maliciousness" of a leave... It is impossible to police.
I leave lvl 7 on a leak... I had a family emergency
I leave lvl 14 when I see sends... My parents came in and turned my computer off
I leave lvl 20 when I see my allies lane is not doing so well... I lost power in a storm

Unless you got chat that says "I am not going to heal! Screw You!" *Player Leaves*
Or something to that extent, it is to hard to write into a clear, concise rule.

Well that seems like progress. Maybe there could be something set up where if a person just says something and then leaves maybe we can report it for that reason. That way it can be handled appropriately. I understand what you mean. If the guy doesn't say a word and just pulls the plug on his router there isn't anything you can really do. But if you actually have chat log that shows his maliciousness i feel like it a stronger ban should be handed out than just the regular autoban for leaving.
