Just unlucky game. If you had sent on lvl 1 too, then he leaks too with one komodo.
You sent lvl 2 and he has 2 komodos and holds. Because you had sent on lvl 2, he doesn't need to worry about lvl 3 and pushed income well.
I wouldn't say he played better than you, but just got lucky with his and your sends.
