LTD rule about mode

I suggest to change this rule ("When using a mode other than the default one (-hpgmcb prophet)...") to "<...>-hpgmcb prophet or -ap<...>" at all or on 1v1 bot because -ap is the most standard mode ever. I understand that smbd dont like it on 4v4 because all who know game mercing and it sufficiently change gameplay (but it still more than playable and competitive), but on 1v1 merc forbidden anyway.

If somebody say that he didnt want to play -ap on lobby its just a cavil because it gives possibility to choose any builder u want.

p.s. i always play -hpgmcb but imo it is not needed to punish people who plays the auto-mode wich map equipped, especially on 1v1.

@I_kill_satan

So....say "mode will be -apgmcb" or w/e ap combination mode u want before the game starts?

We have concluded that "hpgmcb" is the most commonly acceptable mode played at ENT. You can however play any other mode as long as you announce it early enough giving others time to decide whether they want to play or not.

@nabo.

Personally me dont have problems with it, but

There are alot of people who not good at english or not enought good at game to pick modes, also how much players knows about ent site? All of them should be banned? Somebody couldnot know that -ap without annoucement is forbidden and it looks like strange in case that is design of map when auto mode is -ap. LTD-pub isnt a private club to force new players type something right?

And isnt it over work for mods btw? Its not a crime to play -ap without annoucement.

I dont see a big problem with the rule. The rule was not made just to list more rules, but because there were cases where we had to make a clear distinction whether certain modes should be bannable or not since on wc3, red usually has the power to choose w/e mode. Not many people were banned due to this rule and depending on circumstances, it is appealable. Actually, I expect less ban requests concerning "stupid modes".

If language is a problem that is a problem at a personal level.

If a player does not know the rule, that is his/her fault.

Rules, bans, and appeals exist for a reason.

I never saw ban requests about "he picked very stupid mode -ap, ban him" or "he was afk and -ap picked, ban him" on 1v1 before this rule was made :)

Even on 4v4 with -ap we just continue to play with mercs and that games werent smth wrong, u anyway should try hard to win.

And i m not against this rule, i even support it but as a ent user i cant see any reason that -ap should be announced on 1v1 :roll:

I think it wouldn't hurt to change "default" to "most played" or something, to maybe make it more clear for the new players.

Most played != default tho. It is called default for a reason and nabo has already elaborated on that.

If you play on bnet, you should be capable to understand the following:
A: Mode xx???
B: yes.
C: NO NO NO

If you dont understand yes or no in English, then there isn't much ENT can do for you.
Regarding the players dont know the rules, that's unfortunately nothing we can consider because they are on the wiki and the wiki is announced on the bots, plus multiple announcements tell you where to find them once a rule was changed.

We dont expect players to have a high IQ but it should be high enough to find a wiki page.

If you want a different mode, just say it in lobby, if not, use the default one set by ENT.

I think the word "default" makes more sense since it is what people pick usually and it is what ENT recognizes as our standard mode.

As for the suggestion regarding -ap in ltd 1v1, you are right that -ap is the auto mode chosen by the map maker if no mode is selected, but checking past 200 games played at ENT previously before implementing this rule, we have found that seldom people actually play -ap. If people actually played -ap a lot, I would agree with your suggestion. But since this is not the case, I do not see the point listing another mode as default. "-hpgmcb" is a "general" rule for ltd.

As I said, you can be red and choose -ap after announcing it yourself in lobby or leave if you dont want to play it or play hpgmcb. I dont see any big deal with this.
