re: battleships pros not teaching noobs, its impossible to teach with a language barrier. if we can at least see what country people are from, could always plug their crap into google translate or whatever.

also theres only so much you can teach in a guide, being able to tell someone to not go 1v5 probably gonna help more

2. You don't have time to google translate each line while playing battleships
3. If you do, however, google translate their text, google tells you what language it is; thus telling you where they might be from.
4. Most people speak a little bit of English - ask them where they're from.

Experience says 2, 4 are false

3 relies on them speaking tho

typing the accent marks is hard in translate if you have only normal letters on your keyboard. looking up alt codes is dumb. 3, they just see as

Hard to tell language.

I haven't met somebody from another language that didn't know what I was saying when I substituted the closest english letter for their accented one (ex. c for Ç)

That said, pretty sure the stats page says where they are from so looking up the lobby via games would let you know their countries.

yes, they might know, but google translate won't - and will identify french with Portuguese even.

I remember this suggestion being rejected twice or so in the past.

I don't see the point. If someone doesn't talk back then they either don't want to talk to you or they can't understand you. !from doesn't really change anything.

you can copy paste chat from google translate, without their slang language confusing the engine.

Generally if you copy from chat and paste it into google it will auto translate the language and tell you what language it is. From there you can translate the text and find out what language they are speaking.

If u have time to copy paste txt to ur translator, u should have time to open their stats page too.

U can even search names in lobby if u rlly rlly wanna help.

Based on previous suggestions, I see no point in this.
