New BBCode Suggestion

I was derping around with the BBCodes, and I've noticed that there is no [staff] or [member] BBCode tags.

For example, [staff]anything between these tags would be seen only by those who share a "staff" usergroup[/staff] while regular members wouldn't see, and it's similar with the [member] tag.

The point of these two special BBCode tags is to allow one usergroup to view whatever text between the tags while not cluttering up a post with information that other usergroups don't need to see (Medicca :P). While there could be a potential "abuse" by regular members, that's a simple fix by only limiting which usergroup has access to it.

Implementing such code shouldn't be that difficult, either, though it's just a simple suggestion.

Normally if we would want to talk between staff, we would go on the Admin forums and talk there, on on chat in private channels.
I really like your idea thought, if it isn't difficult to implement, then it would be useful if people or staff would post notice on some ban request or appeals, like "oh yeah this guy has done this" instead of having to argue on about it on chat or teamspeak.
You have gained my support for this idea :)

Well-thought out idea, logical, and more work for uak? Count me in. I like the idea, it would make things a bit smoother despite hitman being right in a lot of points. Supporting.

https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/ ... e_bbcodes/ could be mossible mod to install.

The forum is meant for public discussion though. If the problem is clutter, you can use the spoiler tag to collapse text. If you need to say something private then you should use the _private_ messaging system.

It seems that particular mod would be the closest to the suggestion.

Except that spoiler shows up as a big target that basically says "CLICK ME", this way, if minor information would need to be relayed to another staff member, they can without having to resort to PM and spoiler tags.

Not sure for what it's needed, i agree with uakf.b, If you need to say something private then you should use the _private_ messaging system.

Minor information wouldn't have to be hidden then. Can you show a specific case where this could be useful?

When Medicca puts in the notice for moderators to go to a specific link to discuss a certain thread, regular members don't need to see that reminder, and using spoilers would just clutter the post.

Regular members don't need to not see the reminder. And moderators don't need to waste their time using this feature when it doesn't matter if regular members see it or not.

Also, as BH said, we have a specific Admin forum called "Ban Discussion" where we discuss or post certain Ban Appeals/Requests to talk about. If Medicca is doing something that annoys you, don't read his posts, lol.
