lol, no staff members play it because game start time is 1 million years. honestly, game is too hard and teammates you don't know will fuck you up in many areas just because they are little different then accustomed to. if each lane could be a little more independent, more people would play... but it would ruin many strategies at high ranked games.
advice to newcomers: if you join pub game, and have only played few games so far, you will be kicked.

Re: Civilization Wars: forbid pulling
Ask anyone: we all went through this hard school. It took me like 100 games to get a clue about the map because i got kicked everytime. Back in the day there was no plz and thx, as a new player on prof-host you did what you got told, or you got kicked. Sometimes you even just get kicked by some bot admin who wanted to play 1v3. Compared to that, we are actually nice nowadays.

@RaptorXI It's not necessarily about the vote itself but the participation and activity. Whether you are the map developer doesn't matter in regards to rules.
While the rule will most likely be added anyway, we can't just rely on "one" guy. I hope you understand that.

Re: Civilization Wars: forbid pulling
@aRt)Y for the map that might be true, it's just me who wants updates.
But for making this custom rules for civ wars on Ent16, which this topic is about, you can see that are is an interest to make a rule, which intention is to promote fairplay.

Re: Civilization Wars: forbid pulling
Pretty conclusive vote considering the vote/player base ratio.

Re: Civilization Wars: forbid pulling
I'm not a player of this map myself, however from my experience as moderator while checking a few cw's ban requests (and a few talks with Raptor about it), i've noticed this situation before and yes i do agree with banning it (considering players are exploiting a glitch and should not be abused at all), so i voted yes as well.

I will talk to nabo about a possible phrasing on the week-end.

Re: Civilization Wars: forbid pulling
@raptorxi
I used to play tech wars a lot on ROC. heh
I know this aint dota, but this type of pulling can be a strategy imo. But, I guess pulling is not part of the mapmakers intention on cw and cw dont have a hero that uses pulling to aggro and cs.
Question: Both team can pull, so why is this a big issue? What is the negative impact? Units get autosent and you pull to push better or stall at tower for instance = is this a looked down upon strategy? Will this make the game too "complex"?
Is the issue that its "simply not how the game is suppose to be played"? How so? Because players are not suppose to micro while things just get autosent and its about how fast you up tech or mass buildings/towers?

Re: Civilization Wars: forbid pulling
Thought i explained it often enough...
There is a script built into the WC3 AI that makes units units attacking a worker when he tries to repair something. It can't be disabled. It happened someone found out it's to get advanatge by using (= abusing) and it was promoted as the ultimate strategy. Especially in the early game (~10 minutes) this turns out as problem, because all units start as melee, later on pulling isn't a big issue because high tech units have much more range and damage so they would kill worker who attempts to pull within 1-2 shots.
You can see at the replay by I_kill_satan what happends when both sides pull:
http://storage.entgaming.net/replay/vie ... 617666.w3g
AI units that are being pulled don't do what are they supposed to do (fighting enemy Ai units), they only follow the worker, try to attack him, while getting slowly killed without doing any damage.
None of the former mappers (Dangime, Terrabull, X.G.Death3) intended to implement this as a feature, neither does the community. There a mods like kciv where everyone gets an extra worker just for pulling, but i want to continue the map in the official way, hence not allow it.

That answers my question. Ty.
Will be put as a rule.

@nabo. "Do not purposely pull the aggro of creeps with your builder." ?
