Tournament System

Postby aRt)Y » Tue Jan 07, 2014 2:05 pm

Need a reliable tournament system for an total amount of teams of 4,6,8 and 5,7.

> Next two things are mainly for Tom and Jerry.
Plus, a fair solution for scheduling who plays which team (cat/mouse) how often. At the moment, each team plays once mouse and once cat and the third time is random.

Also rules concerning drawings in case there should be no bo3 (best of three).

Give some examples with team A,B,C,.. and possible groups of 1,2,..

for odd # of teams just give one team a bye to second round, i.e. the team with highest average elo or previous champions or something like that

no real solution for bo3 cat/mouse unless both just keep alternating until sudden death or team loses as mouse

Maybe do something with draws meaining both teams are winners until semi-finals where they'll meet again.

Or just use DotA2 system, including losers bracket.

I like the loser bracket format. Odd # teams just give a team a bye.

We won't develop our own tournament system, you can use hosted version or just keep track in text editor. Any sort of web interface only limits what you can do with the tournament.
