Bubblestorm@Uswest

Postby Bubblestorms » Thu Nov 15, 2012 2:04 pm

Name: Bubblestorm otherwise known as Rory
Age: 23
Game moderator position (see below for choices): Dota
Brief introduction:
Let's see hello to all, I am sure most of me know you at one time or another, most likely in a game of Dota. I have been playing dota for like 2 years and while I have no admin experience, I make up for it with passion, which can be mistaken by aggressiveness. Though of late I have tried to curve going off at others. However I tend to keep it in the game, meaning it dissipates once the game is over. I suppose that is not what you would exactly look for in an admin applicant, but being honest seemed better than making up bullshit.

What are your current hours of playing time (approximate)?
Around 30 odd hours per week.

What is your current time zone?
GMT

Describe any relevant experience, both in moderating and in Warcraft III:
LIke I stated earlier I do lack experience in moderating, have been an admin on some friend's bots, however I don't really think that is related to the kind of experience which is stated here.

Why should we accept you?
Well, I believe that if you want a straight shooter, I would be a good choice, plus I try to keep an eye for hackers in my games and of late (since I got some more time) I try to keep an eye on other ban requests as well.

Why do you want to become a game moderator?
Well, I suppose it is due to the fact that in each game I play there seem to be a map hacker and normally this leads to the ruining of a game, while it would be impossible to eliminate this problem all together, I would like to join the group which attempts to at least decrease the number of those whom violate that rule as well as others.

What will you bring to the ENT/Warcraft III community?
I will be direct with most users, of course I will, assuming you do select me, try to become a model user for others to follow. An enforcer of rules, also it might speed up the processing of both ban requests and appeals.

Closing Statement:
Well, I would just like to say that while I might not be an ideal person for this job, it might not hurt to have some one who is direct and tells you as it is. I am not the best player, which I can happily admit, but I don't believe that has anything to do with the position. Hmm... thank you for reading this and thoughts are appreciated.

For what game position should you apply for?
#1- DotA

!Support The activity in Ban Requests is a +, although your last 4 posts were just to get up to the 25 threshold :P I still think he would be a valuable addition to the team. (As long as what Agreements said is followed, activity after promotion.)

Well, I am from New Zealand and other than dota I spend my time playing Tower Defense games. I do also play other games but the majority of my time is spent on dota. If I do become an admin, I will be putting it up as a status ie either as a topic or on my signature if such a situation arises. However unless something big, an emergency as such happens on my end I can guarantee that I will be active on my part. Thank you for your support agreement and teller ^_^ Also feel free to ask anything else and I will do my best to answer it.

And Teller, I have wanted to apply before but I noticed how 25 posts is the threshold and while the majority is within the ban requests, I did not just want to put up random posts at different topics. This seemed like the best time. And thank you for your support.

I know, I was just kidding :P ^_^ Most of your posts are contributory and benefit the Ban Requests thread.

Haha sorry my bad and even if I am not chosen, I will just continue helping with ban requests in case a topic is unattended by an admin.

Sorry my connection can some times be iffy, I don't know if you guys know this but New Zealand doesn't have unlimited data on the internet, most of the time this isn't a problem but when data runs out dialup speed so I tend to avoid dota if that happens, normally the amount suffices. But I will try to keep this issue in mind. >_< Also thank you for your support forma <3

Yeah some new phone company was complaining about a monopoly and some other stuff happened a few months back as a result unlimited internet was removed, I have a 50 gigabyte plan, which well I can barely stay with till the end of the month.

You have to consider though Agreements, that your students aren't gaming. Gaming takes a whole lot more bandwidth then school stuff because it's a constant drain on your data. (Also he might not live alone :P)

agreements wrote:50 gigabytes? And you have problems keeping within that? Seriously? - at my work, (school) we have 50 students, they use a total of 150 gigabytes traffic a month, and you are 1 person. lol

I know a lot of people are shocked the thing is I'm constantly downloading either movies, music games software or a tv series through torrents one time I used almost 160 gb but now I'm more careful so I put off downloading till its time of the month to renew data.

You have a good application. There's just a problem, your discs :3
I wonder if you will become admin only to remove your bans =\

I don't plan on removing leaver bans, rather I prefer waiting it out. But prevention is always best so I would like to avoid disconnecting in the first place.

Okay this sounds like a good option so I am going to try it out thank you for letting me know.

Just an update on the disconnect issue:

Have decided to play as normal while gproxy seems like a more secure way to be honest, it removes the visual interface bit of warcraft 3, which is something I enjoyed. However I have taken steps to ensure that other than the bot disconnecting (which is rare in itself) my computer will not, setup a wireless router in my room. (yes I have a lot of time to spare lol) Just thought you guys should know, good suggestion though agreements.
