Dear reader,

I want to apply for the position of LIHL moderator.

My name is Mick, I am from The Netherlands (Rotterdam) and my BNet account is Dweller@useast in the LIHL. I have been inthe LIHL from right after it got started and I have been involved in discussions concerning a lot of the fundamental points of the LIHL. For example, I was the first to notice that the "!draw-rule" which existed in the beginning of LIHL had flaws and was susceptible to fraud. I was also the first to suggest transparency concerning bans in the LIHL and I have suggested ways to think about making the LIHL more attractive. Also, in other discussions I have always shown a constructive attitude in which I was always willing to take other people's arguments into account and explain why I did or not agree with them. Lastly, I have also lived by the rules and have helped the LIHL-community in any way I can by reporting violators of those rules.

I currently play several days a week. During the time I am online I always have good contacts with all players and I always listen to the things they experience in the LIHL and I take this information with me to the forums. For example, the most recent suggestion I gave on decay in the LIHL was because of complaint I heard from several players while in the wc3 channels and/or games. This shows that I listen closely to what problems people encounter in the LIHL and that I am able to verbalize the issues that arise in the community.
As for time on the forum, I check the forum several times a day. You can see this in the discussions I am involved with. I am quick with my responses so that it is easy to discuss a topic with me.

My most relevant experience for the task of LIHL-moderator is the fact that I have succesfully studied philosophy and sociology (I am in my last phase of the Masters). Philosophy has taught me to make a proper argument, to distinguish between sound and false arguments and to take all arguments in consideration in a decision. Sociology has taught me to take one step back from your personal point of view and take an over-arching position in any kind of discussion or decision-making process. Both studies have taught me how to communicate in the most clear and distinct way so that I do not leave ambiguity in my posts.

The reason I want to become an LIHL-moderator is because I feel the LIHL needs another active moderator who has the capacities, will and time to make the LIHL a success. Because the LIHL is a top-league all boundaries of legality and illegality in the league are constantly searched and sometimes crossed by the players. Minor details like moments when anti-stucking is allowed and not allowed become a major influence in the LIHL because the differences between players are small and every game is played on the top of the abilities of the best legion players around. To keep control of this top sport mentality the moderators will always have to be very careful in their decisions and be able to judge the arguments in a proper way. As I have written above, I think I can be a great and welcome asset to the current LIHL-staff with my previous experiences and I believe I have shown this in several topics and threads already.

Finally I would like to state that I have often discussed with moderators about rules and interpretations of rules and that I have always had a constructive way of discussing, while I was ready to listen to arguments of other people and willing to let them convince me. I have always discussed in a healthy way which has contributed to the success in the LIHL. With my application for LIHL-moderator I hope I can contribute even more to the succes of the LIHL and help to make it a stable and long-lasting showpiece of the ENT-community!
