Strategy

Postby uakf.b » Sun May 19, 2013 7:37 pm

Unfreeze your allies: the most basic strategy is to unfreeze your allies first. Unfreezing is way more important that freezing, because more allies means more arrows being shot at your enemies.

Communication: communication is critical for a successful team. If you die, ping your location every ten seconds so that allies know where you are. Similarly, if you're guarding a location (like one of the plateaus), split positions among your team so that you have people all around it. Also ping when you see enemies so that your team knows where they're coming from.

Stay in groups of three: never split off solo; going in groups of two is okay, but the best is groups of three (or six). That way, if one or two get frozen, another player is always there to unfreeze them.

Surround your enemies; at least sometimes: one interesting strategy is to surround your enemies. If they have six in the middle and you have three on each side, then you have a high chance of winning the game because they have nowhere to run to and have to defend on both sides. That said, it'd also be harder to freeze your teammates if one group of three gets frozen entirely.

Blind unfreezing: it's very easy to blind unfreeze your teammates. Just have them ping their location and then click on the ping through the minimap (or guess it on the main map). That way, if your teammate is on the plateau and you're below, you don't have to dangerously climb up.

Outnumbered? stay in open areas: if you're outnumbered (if your allies left or you're playing a stacked game with pubs) then staying in open areas is a good idea. This will allow you to outmaneuver your opponents and easily unfreeze each other. Another good idea is to go to a defensible location; basically, a corner of the map, so that your enemies only have two sides of attack.

Guard dead enemies: if your enemy is dead, a good idea is to guard the player. To do this, first obviously you have to stay near him. But the cool thing is, when you see an enemy arrow heading to thaw him, immediately fire at him so that he doesn't have a chance to even escape; this will keep your enemies dead! In 2v2 or 3v3 situations this is especially useful because you can have one teammember guarding and making sure an enemy doesn't get thawed, while another shoots arrows at the enemy who's trying to thaw.

Have fun: freeze tag should be fun. If you're not having fun then you're doing it wrong.
