Do you respect players that -random in Apen A-Bal games?
Just curious because I think picking the same hero over and over is boring unless you are learning...
I think being successful with -random is more respectable

Re: Do you respect players that -random in Apen A-Bal games?
1) First, you have to analyze your team and the enemy team. Randoming at the very beginning may be acceptable, because you can always blame the other 4 for not picking around your random. Obviously, if you get an unlucky random after your entire team picks, it all falls on you. This happens in some cases, but not all.
2) I do not give out respect people who random in any AP game (It is all PICK, afterall). It is reckless. If you are a seasoned player and can play any hero (which is not hard once you understand the fundamentals of each hero's initial purpose and don't try to do something it is not capable of), then by all means, get the extra gold and do your thing.
3) Big dogs stick to heroes they are good at. I can think of certain people and think, "Hey, Pornographic. is a bomb Pudge. Mittlebittle sure can run that Meepo. GetPwnt.com. can random and do well with the most worthless hero imaginable." But big dogs also know how to even up against a horribly unbalanced team of heroes and deviate from their normal picks, because, well, they understand almost all heroes and their particular weaknesses.
4) In short; depends on the player's skill level and pick awareness.

i feel like in a-bal, it shouldnt just be the big dogs that stick to heroes they are good at. its auto balanced, the bot is trying to even the teams by skill levels. If you dont play up to your maximum skill than ur throwing the balance off an a-bal game.
so if u random, get a hero ur not the best with and that results directly in you playing below what your !sd states, you've just ruined the whole purpose of an a-bal game. its fine to go fuck your own stats through unlucky randoms but its pretty gay to drag down your other 4 allies. might as well respect your allies want's for a good game and respect the whole purpose of a-bal bots existing in the first place before worrying about respect of typing -random.
in short (like tietsut said) no, respect goes to players skill level and not whether they randomed. I'd be suprised if anyone posts in this thread saying "i respect people that random"
dotamamba, you treat random as if it puts players in a disadvantage. and so ur logic is that someone that puts themselves at an disadvatage and still does well deserves respect. why not just pick a bottom tier hero in the first place (like razor) and own with it?
random gives you extra gold to compensate for that disadvantage... which basically means you are at no disadvantage at all. in fact if your good with every hero equally, your actually just gaining an advantage over your enemies with more starting gold.

Re: Do you respect players that -random in Apen A-Bal games?
You can alway -repick. So no, there's no respect to gain. -Random ; Chen ; 'awww' ; -repick ; Pick - Naix/Bara/Huskar/Riki... Well, you just hope to fall on one of these with extra gold, if not, they repick? I call this pure BS.
I have respect for people -random that try this for new heroes. Still, you need a bit of experience around dota for that. So if you're slighty new, know only know 10-15 hero, well, try not hard hero by pick or pick one you know. More your farm skill, map awareness will get better, more you'll be able to pick harder and harder until you know 'all' hero.. Then you random and own.

Everything that spews from you is gibberish and nonsensical.
You're retarded if you think "a pros" win rate would be the same picking -random every game vs picking pl or any other pub stomping hero. Don't kid yourself in pubs not all heroes are created equal.
AND don't talk to me about fucking teammates. I'm not sure if anyone else has had the privilege to play with this troll "thomas.kacz". He just plays BS or furion and tries to ks with ethblade/dagon. I wish someone would ban him for life.
On another note since I -random every game it pretty much reflected in my ELO so it won't the spirit of A-Bal in anyway.

To you, I guess.
I prefer someone picking PL and do great then random and fail to make me lose. Honestly, this is a nice topic to argue on, but stay on it. He gave his opinion, you can disagree with it, without being disrespectful. This is what he meant by ; don't flame.
I hope this is more clear, when you start a topic, don't think everyone will agree with you. You asked and I will quote you on this :
I will just ask you to respect people answer. And it's not only for you, but for every single person posting on the forum.

Isn't there a question mark? Yes. So let people answer the question as they want. Starting to tell the person is retarded isn't subjective, it's litteraly attacking this said person - to have an opinion that differs from yours.Do you respect players that -random in Apen A-Bal games?

I only responded to his flippant remark in the initial reply and I know the player (which makes it worse). I don't think anyone likes their post being belittled with an elitist attitude.
I apologize to the mods for lets him get under my skin but I hope they can understand where I am coming from.
And I defiantly welcome other opinions!

Re: Do you respect players that -random in Apen A-Bal games?
but seriously though, if a high elo player randoms and maybe gets that one hero he isnt very comfortable with, it really throws off his allies.
like "oh that 1800 elo player got a random TA, awesome. i'll get maybe a CM to support him since he can use the disables and mana regen."
than 10 minutes in, you realize he doesnt know how to use TA fully and ur stuck with a support that cant carry.
and your thinking "damn i wish i picked a carry and i wished this 1800 elo guy that i expected to carry didnt random the one hero he didnt know how to play".
its like an opposite smurf on your team. (a high elo player that doesnt know how to play)
I assure it has happened a few times to most people. and its an unpleasant experience
