Question About Gold

So I have noticed that sometimes it seems that the gold we get passively is slower and sometimes it is faster. Now obviously when there is a leaver the gold is faster, but that is not my question.

If one team denies a ton of creeps will the other team get passive gold much slower? Or does the rate of passive gold solely depend on the number of players and leavers?

em has double the gold rate, rest just depends on number of players. A team always gets the gold income of 5 players, divided between however many players are left.
