deN's DOTA FAQ #5: Runes

Postby zerodenies » Thu Mar 28, 2013 4:53 pm

if your about to grab a rune and the time is almost at a multiple of 2:00, remember to stick around. you might get lucky and another rune might spawn at the same location where you just took. Haste + dd makes some easy kills!

DD gives you damage based on your 1) base damage 2)main attribute stats boosting item

because of that second point, there are some tricks to use
When you use a double damage rune, always switch your power treads stats to your main attribute for an extra +16 dmg.
ie. if your an sf with strength treads, change it to agility treads for a second before using dd rune, than switch back to strength treads. you will still have the bonus +16dmg.

if you have an armlet and you are a strength hero, activate armlet before using dd. again, it will give you bonus damage that carries on even when you turn armlet off.

When grabbing an illusion rune, again please use your armlet so that the illusions will be much more tankier (higher hp pool). if your a strength hero with armlet, your illusion will also do a little more damage by doing this.

Also if your support has a gem, give the gem to the tank and let him grab illusion rune. than give the gem back to the support.
you now have 3 units with truesight vision. your support and two tanky illusions. (yes illusions with gem can see invisible units for the team)

if your an axe thats going to cut creeps, remember that illusions will also have counter helix. if your lucky and get an illusion rune, you would most likely be able to cut one wave of creeps (maybe 2) with your illusions without taking any damage on your hero (which saves you your tangos for later).
