How come euro players play fine on us/ca bots, while If i try a single game on euro bots my normal ms bumps to 400-500 ms and have hard time playing?? I'm sure the euro bots are located in the specific euro countries and I understand the logic of it, but why aren't they having hard time when playing on us/ca bots?? Hell, If I even switch b/w east and west the pings bump up by 100 which seems abnormal?

Re: Pondering
Well, u just have to get used to it like i did. The only real prob is that u are susceptible to ganks thanks to the delay and some weird spikes, so your k/d will always be kinda crap
But games are way more challenging on us/ca bots, and only there u can play ar-sd-rd modes, so its definitely worth it...

First, are you an euro bot player or us/ca player??
Second, yes when I migrate from us/ca to euro I lag like hell which I mentioned and maybe that's what you are referring to when you say "k/d will always be kinda crap?"
Third, yes I'm just wondering like Beer said he's an euro player and he plays fine on us/ca bots while I, an us/ca bot player tries to play on euro bot once in a while, and I hardly have a good time there due to 3-4 sec delay on everything which is why I want to know what's the main cause to it.
Re: Pondering
What causes ping is that path to the bot. The path is determined by your ISP. Some of their ISP's may follow a shorter path to the bots from overseas to the US, whereas your ISP may not be set up to optimally connect to servers outside the US (like a smaller ISP) and thus may follow inefficient paths to the bots causing greater lag.

Interesting, so in general you are saying euro ISP's are more efficient than States. So, I'm guessing the same would go for if I switch from east to west realm, because I do experience higher ms; but it's still playable unlike euro bots because the server is in US.
How to fix the so called "ISP path?" Is it not doable or just too complicated for the US servers to handle?

Re: Pondering
i play on us bots aswell when euro is dead and my ping is arround 300 ms which is not rly a problem if i do not pick heroes like meepo chen
Re: Pondering
Ye, I'm euro but I play only on us/ca bots. On euro bots i have only 80 ping, so i can unleash my full potential lol. When i jump on us/ca servers, i play with 200 ping usually, meaning almost 2 sec delay, but the only really annoying thing are the spikes during teamfights

It is possible that they are more efficient at connecting to the US because there are a lot of popular websites hosted in the US so it makes sense their ISP would try to make the most efficient use of their resources to connect them here. Whereas in the US, probably 5% of individuals actually try to connect to sites/servers not hosted in the US so it's not as big of an issue. That's why you can have a great signal in the US because that is where they focus their efforts. Also, like I said, they may have a large ISP whereas yours might be smaller. It really depends on your ISP. I play sometimes with some people on a Chilean VPN on a host bot hosted in Chile and I have about 130ms. It all depends.jan1 wrote:[...]Interesting, so in general you are saying euro ISP's are more efficient than States. (Also, in Europe, from what I've read/heard, they have a lot more fibre optic than we do here. Our companies are trying to keep up on that and get more fibre rich networks, but it will take some time when some people are still using dial-up, DSL, and satellite internet.)
(Also, I'm not an expert in the field, so take whatever I say with a grain of salt

That's simply not possible.
I think every Euro player notices the higher ping when playing on US servers, tho you getting 400-500ms ping on Euro servers sure is high and rather unusual.

Good enough, it makes sense now about how it would cause someone to lag when using the euro servers. And honestly, I just wanted an opinion because it was just mind boggling to me knowing that a lot of us/ca servers is used by euro players and it seemed like they aren't having any issues with it. While If I tried an euro server once in a blue moon, I would constantly have 3-4 seconds delay on everything which made me think that it would be on my ISP's end and not the euro server and what not.
One last thing, could you give me your bots locations? The reason why I want to know is when I switch from US east to west my ms does rise, however I'm able to play fine after sometime when the game starts... Just looking to see where the west coast bot could be located from where I live. Thanks for everything and wishing you a happy new years eve! (Wishing everyone as well that has posted/read on this thread)

Re: Pondering
The bots are mostly hosted in Atlanta, GA. So when you connect to uswest, you are going from your house to blizzard's server in California to Atlanta (is how I believe it works)
